Annoying equestrian lady needs 8 acres small baling in the midlands

They do want small bales as it's one lady with about a dozen different fields. She has no tractor either so small bales work better. They are spread over about 5 miles radius.
That’s a rescue in its own right needed there if that’s true! There was circa 600 horses at a farm locally 10 years ago, they were going through 27 bales of SILAGE a day while on 250acre! I don’t think many came from there alive 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi, I have to opportunity to rent 8 acres of flat land near Nottingham. Fencing is poor so I want to use it for hay rather than put my horses on it or pay for the whole lot post-and-railing.
I have no machinery so need a contractor. Would also need help stacking locally.
I've been asked to suggest what I think the plot is worth rental value, so need to know what it would cost for small bales to be made. I don't want to make a profit (heaven forbid) just enough to break even so would be happy to split the bales for reduced cost.

Any takers? NG11 area.
A friend of mine near Melton Mowbray uses a contractor to small bale her 5 acres of hay and help stack - they have moved onto a bale sledge and flat 8 which has made the job masses easier than it used to be! I will ask her what he charges - and he would probably do the job, fairly certain he is north side of MM. I suspect he might want paying on the day because unfortunately horsey people do not have the best of reputations for swift payment. Don't forget if the weather lets you down it can get a lot more expensive as it may need turning more than expected.

Feckin horse sanctuaries worse than most of the places they get taken from!! The council pay a woman I know of to remove them from council ground, she goes in the middle of the night an whisks them away to a fate unknown!! People donate money an other sh1t for the “rescued” horses an in most cases the feckin horses don’t see none of it!!😂 better off where they were most of them

115 horses, one lady, small bales, no tractor. I’m sorry, I don’t believe you.
Actually, I think I know who she means, one of the fields is next to our land on the outskirts of Melton. The rescue lady also buys masses of tinned dog food and feeds the foxes, we have some enormous foxes round here as a result.

Most of the local 6th formers who aspire to get to vet school have her on their work experience list. In the cold snap last winter she was appealing for bottles of water to be left at the yard as it was all frozen.

Funnily enough my mate with the 5 acres always donates any spare hay to the rescue place if she has any left at the end of the winter and she's not a horsey person at all, she has rare breed sheep.

We used to keep 120 livery horses and there's no way any one person feeds that many on small bales even if they were all outdoors, it would be crazy.
I did mention that there are an awful lot of 16/17 year olds that have experience at the Horse Sanctuary on their CV (plus a host of other volunteers).!! A lot are ponies not horses, some elderly and most are not in work, unless e.g. a rescue foal being broken in.

She does actually do a very good job - been going for decades - but as is often the case, it's very hand to mouth, as well all know, animals need feeding 24/7 and so they rely on a lot of donated feed as well as fundraising.

If you find a local farmer to help I guess it would cost around £2/ bale assuming 70 per acre.
£35/acre to cut ted and row up.
£1 each for baling, another 50p to stack it locally. Obviously more to haul it somewhere.
Can you sell it for £4 each in a good year but £3 average? The latter leaves you with £70 profit per acre.
Offer £300 for the field but there is a risk the hay could be rubbish.

PS. 'Annoying equestrian lady' shows a level of insight unusual in equine circles
