Sounds good. Our Fendt and its GNSS gear are already some 7 years old but we would not buy an new tractor and/or a new GNSS receiver to all tractors just to save on the GNSS base cost with RS2.
Either option should do fine although I prefer my old linux based NTRIP caster rather than the Windows based SNIP. For some reason SNIP fails every now and then while the linux caster has (so far) never failed during the 7 year period. Not too bad with SNIP either and the issue could well be my Windows 7 laptop rather than the SNIP app, my knowledge on that stuff is far too limited to be able blame the OS reliability or the application.
I would likely purchase a new RS2 base at the time legacy support is solved. I'd like to have backup for the current base after 7 years 24/7 service time exposed to norther weather (base receiver outside). Not sure how much trouble free life to expect. At an equal operating time any other electronics at the farm would have likely given up. While NTRIP 3.1 support would be essential to me, the MSM support from RS2 would still be very welcome. The current base supports only GPS and Glonass and does not enable full potential of more modern rovers if any happened to appear near by.
