Was a local teacher that lived beside the farm that provided official measurements to the met office, not sure how accurate the more recent data is as he died a few years ago, I expect it’s got a bit wetter judging by how much the older folk mention it, but maybe not.

Its interesting to see some parts of the UK with similar totals to here (never measured it when I still lived there as it seemed to rain all the time) and yet we'd say it was dry here with not much growing without irrigation most years.
All about temps, humidity and soil type I guess. Plus we tend to get large amounts in one go followed by bugger all for a month or so.

Wow 😮

fû*k me, some of you live in a dry desolate place don’t you . . .
We had a hell of a dry winter, following a dry autumn, but caught enough showers since

if you get out of our rain-shadow, by travelling 10 minutes either direction, you get an extra 400mm or so, and an extra 50mm per 5 minutes southwest

looking at our total it's only a few mm more than our "drought years" but much better timing (and the management changed a bit!)

1015mm here with April being the driest - 15mm and May the wettest - 187mm.
About average really. Across the valley on the Brecon Beacons, you could add nearly a metre to our total.
As @tinsheet says, "Amazing the difference across this small country."
No wonder the weather is mostly the first topic of a conversation.
