Another KRM problem.

Maybe need to change the title of yer post here Nick. Sounds like a fert flow/type issue not the machine itself. Never sold spreaders but I do here many operators saying different fert flows differently.

I know fertiliser flows differ depending on weather and temp but other identical spreader was just about spot on allways, never more than 5/10 kg product more or less than what I wanted.this spreader I’ve got now is not close.wonder if krm are following this

What is the issue, you know how to calibrate the spreader and get the correct application rate, why not just accept it is different to your old one ?

There are so many variables with fertilizer, so if it was possible to set the old one by the book, you were very lucky.

Can I ask What is the standard height are they supposed to run at ?
There is nothing on the spread charts and the stickers at the back are a bit scratched

No I fill the little calibration hopper and then let material run out for 30 seconds, weigh it then do the maths on the supplied charts

I hadn't seen a device like that before and had to google it.

Can you calibrate the spreader by running fert through the spreaders metering?
While that little hopper will give you a nominal figure for the particular fertiliser, it is not checking the actual fertliser spreader.

You lost me after filling the bucket.......

Surely the flow rate will speed up in the field due to vibration compared to a static test in the yard?

I get your point about both machines being the same @nick... and I’m very sorry to hear about your misfortune.

are those figures they're calculating with constants or other values?
does seem like it should be a straight forward way to calibrate:(

The flow rate of a fertiliser can change dramatically between bags of the same batch. On my weigh cell KRM you can see how the calibration factor alters as you spread a product. Not unusual to see it change by 10% or more. This is where a weigh cell machine proves its worth, constantly adjusting to keep the rate even. Until I had seen the variation on my weigh cell machine I never imagined flow rates could change so much on the same batch of fertiliser. It just proves to me just how inaccurate things were before we moved to a weigh cell machine.

You can’t check via the hopper outlets on my poverty spec machine.can be done on other models though.

Just picked this thread up. Double Top seems to be a smaller prill this year and runs through slightly faster.
Question, How the hell do stay in the tractor seat at 14kmph when spreading?.
No problem staying in the seat.my fields are very level and smooth.according to manufacturer nothing had changed with the product

Sorry if it’s a stupid suggestion but why not just accept the new adjustment and forget the past? Can’t remember that last time i calibrated a KRM. Even before a weigher. Just go in a specific field we know exact acerage etc. And adjust accordingly.
KRM have two of the most helpful chaps in the jobs imo. Ted Barker and a chap called Richard at their main depot at Boroughbridge.
Ps. Send it back and get a weigher![emoji23]
