At four times what I paid for my poverty spec it’s unlikely.if I had lots of land it maybe different but I don’t.

How much fertiliser will you apply with that spreader by the time you change it?

15% overdose on 25 tons of double top is over £1100 of fertiliser that has not gone where you wanted it to go on this application alone.

Old machine was pretty much spot on as this one will be.with 2 splits of double top I get on what I want having adjusted it accordingly.may do nitram in one hit and will get that about right after a bit of fiddling.ive got some vanes of old machine that were used for compound and only had about 120 tons over them.maybe of use to someone.will get some pics later if I remember

I dont buy this percentage waste saving argument at all, it pre supposed that you do not rectify the problem when you discover it. I wouldnt carry on into the second field if I knew the first had over applied 10%.
The tonnage used argument is no more than an attempt at justification for the utterly ridiculous prices asked for this kit. I mean ffs, approaching £20k for a hopper, 3 generic gearboxes and a couple of strain gauges.

ive spread wagons and wagons full of all sorts with one, some of which i was unable to find on krms charts so chose the closest competitor on there and used that as a bench mark to start with , i usually put one bag in and see how far from the mark i am by using the area coverage feature on the gps to see how far the bag went and adjust from there, then fill her up and and the second load is very close if not right, its always worked for me anyway

I agree it is a very over simplified argument. How quickly people do notice can be a big variable though. If you don't have an accurate area meter, working out the rate you have been applying at is easier said than done. Judging how much is left in a spreader by eye when you leave the field or how much of a field is left when the hopper is empty is going to be a bit hit and miss at best. GPS certainly helps with this.

If you realise it has been over applying, do you underapply the rest of that application to fit or do you apply extra bag(s) if needed to get near enough the intended rate across the rest of it?

Try Ag salt in an Amazone. Then you'll know what inaccuracy is.

Every year I note down the settings that give such an such a rate.
Next year it's different again, I think because every batch of fertiliser is different in terms of flow ability.

At one time I was seriously considering installing a weighbridge.

Tried to contact cf yesterday and got nowhere.the person I needed to speak to was away for 7/10 days.i was passed from pillar to post and eventually gave up after the I T man was as much use as a chocolate teapot.got my openfield rep on it who got some sense out of them.was told the manufacturing process has not changed for a long time and if anything had been altered it would be made known to all and sundry.hoping krm will come up with something.

Sorry to hear that, I guess then you are going to have to use buakaw cvx 's method. It must be a real pain, especially when your previous machine was so good.

Nick I wonder if the threaded rods that open and close the shutters are the correct length and perhaps opening the shutters slightly too far. Sounds like these have been checked though. There are also some poxy foam seals round the shafts above the hopper bottom. If they are worn fert will drop out round the shaft when the discs are going.

I’m assuming the machines are set up at the factory.its had about 25 ton through it from new and the paint is still on the vanes that I use for nitram.its up to the dealer to sort out.and hopefully they will.

If two products are flowing faster than the charts then seems like spinner is opening more than normal, how much difference is there between your 30 second calibration and what the charts say.

Fraser its not rocket science is it , new spreader you set it ,put one bag in go do a little field or a know area , if your 10% out cut it back ,if not enough open it up , correct difference sencond time over ,
Like others say ,opener rods might not be right , ask krm to bring their setting tools ,
Who tray tests spreaders too to make sure your spreading even , too.

Thats what i did before we had the weigh cell machine.

There's something not right though if its calibrating ok then over dosing.
