I am in the process of making one , thanks for the pic .
What size is the I beam ?
I am going to have to buy an I beam for mine if I can't get one dredged up locally .
make the table with a slotted base and big enough to drop a handler bucket full of rounds on.Having got a similar one which i bought,a wessex in fact, you can improve them greatly by making the flat table as big as possible to load up with logs and then split them.mine had a small table about 300x450mm and you would pick up a log then split it.i can now load the table up with maybe 10 logs and split in one go to save alot of bending down.just a thought
Nick...
Thanks MH , had a right good look at that picture , great .
Still to cast the net around for an RSJ , but I did think about a big bit of box , I even thought about a big bit of pipe in relation to the twisting effect . It's all getting a bit complicated though for just splitting a few logs .
I see you have used the popular slider on the H beam , is this easy to fabricate and how far round the beam face does the slider go ?. I haven't got a beam yet , but I am assuming it would be tapered .I see other guys on youtube using a welded up track on the beam face .
I seen one like that on you tube, fancy one with hi ab and grab loading it. Very impressiveYes exactly .............
Half tonne bag under the splitter and slide the full logs off the trailer?
Don't be going using pipe unless its proper big wall, very easily kinked .................
This is still my favourite home made splitter
This is still my favourite home made splitter
Bloody hell roscoe , that one looks a bit of a challenge ....
Don't think I could let the kids near that one .
