Another walker trampled

I think it’s disgusting this is allowed to happen this day and age. A chap walking his dogs got killed again the other day trying to get an old dog away from a herd of cows and calves in Sussex.

Why can’t we shut footpaths so the public are safe? Why do we feel we can’t put warning signs up without feeling like we’re incriminating ourselves in some way? Why can’t we divert footpaths easily when necessary?

It isn’t the farmers fault, it’s the local authorities fault imo.

The authorities are not at fault the farmer is , farmers are fully aware of how cows with calves behave and some have paid the price themselves, a few hundred quids worth of posts and wire could have saved a life and a huge amount of money and jail time.

I think that there will be a major hurt for someone if a child was trampled by cattle (parents) and it will be the farmer who gets the blame even though they have not done anything wrong.

Really ? you believe putting cows and calves in a field with a Public Footpath in it is not a risk? anyone at work (in any job) should do a risk assessment , no not fill in endless forms , just ask yourself "what could possibly go wrong?" the answer should be obvious.

I made a mistake and should have kept it to a lot of people are going to have a world of hurt if a child got trampled.

Footpaths should be closed full stop. Sweeping up hedge trimmings last Sunday with the Manipoo. Just happened to spot a ramblist in my RVM. Trundling through factories isn't allowed, so why folks are allowed to wander through working farms is beyond me.
It will never ever happen , the opposite is more likely ...more footpaths, you just have to work with it , its the same for everyone who owns land with footpaths.

there are some farms with footpaths everywhere, or going straight through the middle of fields, and I believe it is extraordinarily difficult to move a footpath so it is in a more convenient place.

I think that’s a bit unfair especially without knowing all the details.
It may be the case that 20/30/40 people have walked along the path previously without so much as a look from the cows. For some reason, unknown to the walker or the farmer, the cows take a dislike to someone.
