Another water pipe size question

A while ago I asked about some 25 mm pipe feeding a house and caravans, but a slightly different question today...
Having a new connection off the main to supply the farm (3 houses, 4 summer-let caravans, no livestock currently) and was planning to use 32mm. Length around 400m. But would it be worth considering 40mm or 50mm? Sounds like it would add £400, but just thinking for the future - you never know - say if we put up a new dwelling/started a small campsite, would 32mm be sufficient?

For £400 extra why are you even asking!?

I have only used 32mm, I would suggest you go bigger on that number, depends on pressure too

Water is an absolute necessity and you don’t want to be running out!

We have 32mm for 3 houses and part of a farm, depends on your pressure. Our pressure is too much at times.

50 without a doubt is so much better. Use 32 spurs off it to the houses, makes it a bit more expensive but not much.

pretty sure with mdpe pipe its the outside diameter that is quoted. Correct me if I'm wrong though

have you considered x2 32, gives more flexibility, less reduction issues and savings on fixings.

The only problem I ever had with 50mm or above, is finding fittings in a hurry, no one seems to keep a stock locally.

Metric pipe is measured on the outside, imperial in the inside.
You will find most sizes match.
Ie. 25 mm pipe = 3/4 imperial.
160mm = 6inch

if you have any decent pressure 32 mm will be ample unless there is a big lift on the pipe
40 mm would be just over 1.5 times the flow of 32 mm and 50 mm would be just under 2.5 times the 32 mm
