Another what livestock trailer to buy!

I notice the back fold down ramp hinges from slightly more inside the box than perhaps a IW. Does this affect how many lambs you can put on the rear section at all?
You might lose a ewe off the top, but a simpler system than the easy load. which kept collapsing, it has to start a bit further in to get the angle right, but they seem to load well TBF, I have stuck with a 10ft, we can fill it up and just stay legal, and not be pulling the truck in half, plus we have some steep bits, so why shag every thing?

I bought a 12 foot nugent back in the autumn. I do quite like it but it does have some design floors. I did have a nasty accent when I was off loading on a steep hill, the fold down ramp dropped between the tail gate as the first ewes ran on it. 4 ewes fell between and I was glad I wasn’t stood on it as well and I had to make the others jump to get them off. It was because the angle was to steep, I will make sure that doesn’t happen again.

So is the verdict that Nugent is better than IW for cattle and sheep?

yes.

Only had mine a few months but it’s a good box.

Weight is an issue of you fill a 14 footer up to capacity. The bigger the box the less you can put on as the trailer weight increases so load weight decreases . Well that's the legalities so going from 12 to 14 negates the benefit.although stock have more space.
Hence why I can’t see the attraction of the 14ft trailers. But as you leave here, 3 of the 4 possible directions feature well used VOSA checkpoints. It only takes 1 bloody minded inspector and you’ll be heap o trouble

I move a lot of stock within the farm, and we always have, as it’s usually faster & easier than running them, without lots of surplus labour to block gaps/move other stock/etc. Not enough stock to justify a float to do so, but I can fill a 14’ trailer when if suits.
On the road, especially delivering rams any distance, a 14’ triaxle with wheels on the outside, rides far smoother than any 12’ tandem I’ve ever pulled.
I certainly wouldn’t be keen to downgrade again.

Anyone use a Rolland cattle trailer? Any good?

I used one in a farm I worked on 20 years ago and they were a great job except I didn't like the way the box covering the wheels was on the inside of the trailer and cows tended to slip off them and panic a bit and they were all steel floors so quite noisy when loading ,probably different now.

Because a 14' trailer will carry almost as much stock without using the decks as a 10' that is.
It may be just down to the size of my usual market's pens but my 14' will take 2 lots easy without using the decks but can always put a few or a ram 'up top' if necessary and still be within legal weight.
Back on farm I can fill it behind a tractor with 50 ewes.

Not if it touches a road (legally)

Are those decks any stronger than IW ones ?
talking to a chap that has a nearly new IW, he moves a lot of cattle but also sheep, the decks were bent by the cattle in a couple weeks,
Maybe the decks aren't any stronger but I think the way the support bars fasten is better than the ifor. Only one good bar in a ifor

Not had an issue so far moving cattle including couple full sized bulls.

The cattle bend the decks when they are folded up, he does move a lot of cattle though.
I told him to have a look at a GE, I spose they still do the roll away deck
