I have every sympathy with firms working with reduced staff etc etc due to Covid 19 BUT I am FED UP wasting time ringing firms , or even e-mailing them, with a query / give an order etc, listening to the various options, selecting the option that is closest to my requirements, only to then be told .. and only then, why the **** couldn't they have said it to start off with! .. that due to Covid, they cannot accept any calls at this time. Some wont accept calls, texts, e-mails, or post. One supermarket I tried refuses all types of communication .. even sending back e-mails .. saying they are too busy feeding the nation!! HELLO!!!! I must try that on Red Tractor one day!!

I share your frustrations. And those bloody application forms that ask for everything including your grandmother's DNA profile -- then tell you on the last line that you don't qualify anyway.

But to lighten the mood, I did one day get a crossed line or something and got answered by a machine (now there's a surprise for a start). The message made me smile and I hope it will you too. It went as follows:

"Hello. I am sorry there is no one here to answer you call personally and you are hearing this recorded message. But we are clairvoyants, so we know who you are and why you are calling, so there is no need for you to leave a message".

I've always wanted to use it but I am too much of a coward. But maybe I will as I really don't care any more!

On hold to RPA at moment. 15 mins so far and I’m 13th in the queue with another 40 mins to go. Hopefully the right person is in today to answer my question!!

Mrs was on hold for 5 hours the other day to try to resolve a personal banking issue,Barclays, you just have to put the phone on loud speaker whilst you do other stuff.
yes ... BUT .. on more than one occasion whilst on a prolonged wait .. where they even give you the choice of music you can listen to .. my cordless phone went flat!! .. i forgot who I was waiting for when they finally answered .. they hung up on me, saying they didn't accept calls from anyone who had been waiting more than 20 minutes!!!..... I was told to redial as I was through to the wrong dept! Hats off to your Mrs .. 5hrs!! Is that a record?

My old passport and the application for its replacement are sitting in a drawer somewhere in sunny Liverpool, been there ages, I keep getting emails from them telling me not to call as there's no one there to answer.
Renewed my kids Kiwi passports at the same time, they appeared the same week despite being in 'level 4 lockdown'.
I think its going to be quicker and easier to apply for Kiwi citizenship:rolleyes:

Called the RPA a couple of weeks ago. "We are very busy right now, please leave your number and we will call you back within 24 hrs".
Got a call back at 9.30 the next morning while going around the sheep. "What's your SBI number ?" :banghead: :banghead:
The lady was very helpful and got things started from the postcode and security questions (with some prompting) and I kept her talking while I walked back to the office to find the other information.

Just email them, with problem or question i have had loads of problems with mine this year.Have found they come back within 2/3 days.Shelf it until they do.Lifes to short waiting for somebody to answer the phone.Found this the best way with most bill probems, ie water board mainly with me.I have spend days on the phone if you add up all the time.

Well done in getting some cooperation...

It is a pet hate of mine, random phone call when on the tractor, around the farm etc etc and these people think you have all the infor they require to hand. Banks can be good at that too... "We just need to go through a few Security questions" FFS, they called ME!

BCMS were alway good I found though...

It's helpful if they tell you what number you are in the queue. You can make the decision if you want to wait or not. I usually put it on loudspeaker and do some ironing or jobs around the house. The worst is if you eat or drink something, for certain they pick up and you can't speak or your choking ??

Worse still if you've gone to the loo!!!!

It amazes me some business dont have any offer an answer phone message - it just keeps ringing so when ops are busy too. If you trying to leave a message when busy you cant and if you email they dont always open them until a week later. Utter joke. Its hardly advanced in technology.
