any thoughts? is it a waiste of time?

seems like it needs to be cleaned down with fungicide every year and causes problems with timber purlins...

I would rather have fibre cement any day. They won’t drip and will last much longer too.

Clear roof sheets are one problem with both though - they will still drip in cold/frosty weather.
 
If your using anti-con then ventilation is key. Things like leaving a ventilated eaves and ridge by not installing foam fillers (you can get ventilated fillers)
