Ants!

Okay not quite farming but someone on here I'm sure will have the answer to my problem I hope.

My lawns front and rear are full of ants, (red ants) there is so many you can pick any spot on the lawn take the turf up and they are there.

Was hoping to spray them with ficam W but conflicting reports on if this is harmful to cats? several cats about the place including one of my own so just keeping my own in doors for a few days isn't enough.

Making my own ant killer with Borax and some sort of sugar/honey mix to attract them is a possibly but borax is still harmful to cats etc

Now I don't care about the lawns (already sprayed the back one off with roundup) as they are going to be re turfed although I was hoping not to do the front one this year as got enough to do in the back garden!

Clearly I don't want ant hills in my new turf so how do I get rid of them when they are every were in it!

Set up a few bait stations around the lawn with poison, sugar and powder in them. Make them cat proof. The ants will find the bait and take the powder home.

I had an idea last night.

Make my own using borax and honey and sugar mix. Dribble it in a long line and place a lenght of guttering over it.

I have already experimented with some out of date baking powder mixed with sugar and bit of jam = exploding ants:sneaky:. Which does seem to work but really need to kill the nests of which theres so many so close together you cant really tell where the front door is:ROFLMAO:

I think powder kills the nest. It sticks to them and they carry it back to the nest. Enough do it and eventually it just gets spread by their own feet all through.
