I would be wary of calling for fert sub, end up with over supply and corn at £100/t . Still a massive amount of things people can do in regards food waste and expense. Cut back on fast food and expensive ready made snacks etc. Get back to wholesome food, plenty of veg of all shapes and sizes and homemade sandwiches etc! The bale every acre of straw campaign didnt end well for everybody although at the time it seemed a good thing to do
good ideas, all you have to do, is convince the public.
would imagine guv would be elated at wheat price £100 ton.
The main problem would be getting anybody, in guv, to realise this is not a temporary thing, that demand has overtaken supply, and all their ideals, while brilliant for PR, Will decrease production further. For certainty, plenty of things can/should be done to reduce waste, but this is the 'throw away age'. Things won't happen, until crunch time, then look out, because it will be the farmers fault, nobody else's.

IF there are farmers currently buying next years now then no, the govt should not subsidise next years fert. Marketplace has to find its level even though I would like some cheaper.

What I am slightly more peeved about is the loans to CF fert don't appear to allow the govt more skin in the company. They really should be starting to own a bit more of CF rather than loaning cash or be taking over the plant as a strategic industry

No I don’t think they should, people will adjust in different ways and it will find a level with the current outputs.

Some people bought early for this year, some late, some not at all. Some have bought or have carry over for next year. So you will be penalising someone somehow
