Hi everyone,

I wanted to share something that might interest those passionate about sustainable farming and high-quality wool products. I've recently come across a company that values local production and sustainability, and I thought it was worth mentioning here.

Over 80% of their products are made in the UK, many in the same factories by the same skilled craftsmen for the past 30 years. They take great pride in their British heritage, ensuring that every sheepskin rug is hand-finished and quality-checked meticulously. Richard has years of experience and handles this process to provide top-notch quality.

One aspect that impressed me is their commitment to zero waste. They reuse every offcut and waste material, often giving them to local people and organizations for free. This not only reduces waste but also supports the community. For example, they create sheepskin bobblehats and stuff their sheepskin pouffes with these offcuts.

They source their wool from seven local farms around Ingleborough Mountain, using breeds such as Dalesbred, North of England Mule, Texel, Teeswater, and Blue-faced Leicester. The entire process of scouring, carding, combing, and spinning occurs within 50 miles of the sheep's origin in Yorkshire. This not only ensures high quality but also supports local agriculture and reduces the carbon footprint.

Their product range includes undyed natural yarn, five machine-dyed colours, limited edition, hand-dyed DK hanks, and 2-ply laceweight balls and cones. This kind of dedication to local and sustainable practices is something I find inspiring and worth supporting.

If you're interested in high-quality, sustainable wool products, I recommend checking them out. You can find more detailed information and see their products at glencroftcountrywear.co.uk

Does anyone else have recommendations for locally produced or sustainable wool products?
