Going out of milk as maybe seen on previous posts.
Been diagnosed with early onset artheritis
After only been going 18month not ideal situation young family mortgage and staff well we all know that storey.

We had cows sold as a herd privately anyhow 2 days before they go looks like there Guna cock on them.

So now looking for somebody to milk them on for me for a small financial cost. And sell them as they calve giving whoever 5% of what each cow makes.
Northwest area.

Would anybody be interested ?? Suggestions welcome.
Obv a sale at auction but we do need a half decent average hence why looking down a different route.

Thanks.

People are still looking for cows, lots of flying herds, expansions, etc. No harm in asking your local auctioneer for an opinion. Are you in a discussion group? The leader of ours always knows who is selling and who is looking.
Good luck.

Fresh cow's do seem to be holding their value, so not a daft idea.

Are you wanting to re locate them?
Or an option could be to use one of those staffing/ management companies to do it on your holding possibly?

I'm sure there must be someone on here who's done it. My other half did 20 years as a auctioneers clerk typing catalogues and dealing with dispersals. She spoke to several hundred farmers who'd have dispersed their cows and very few that did it the way your thinking of were ever very happy. When you have 1/3 of the cows left you will still seem have most of the expenses and the tie, but lost the majority of your monthly income.. Don't underestimate the time and risk involved in getting every cow just right for sale just when she needs to be in that ring. There will be cows that don't make it and will have too run around for another whole year.
Best success was always genuine herd of cows sold on farm, always seemed to go well and make good money, even if it's pretty inconvenient selling that way.

sales can be very good, or bad. recent sales here in the sw are quite strong at the moment. the good money is on fresh young milk, or high milk staler cows. anything with a problem, or mid lac/low milk is hammered. I agree with applejack speak to your auctioneers, they will know the best way, and as you are a genuine seller, that helps a lot

We sold our dairy cows as they calved at the local market and it worked very well for us, took a year though as we were all year calving but some that would have only made cull price [which was naff all back then] sold really well, it was fun to but then I like going to market others don't, we did have the advantage that we were going in to suck cows so the few that were not quite right for sale just got their calf left on them,
when the milk got down to a point where it wasn't worth the transport sending it we used it to feed dairy heifer calves and done well out of them as well

what are you going to do farming wise after the cows are gone @Nh6050 ?

I will add that to make this work you need a good market and a good auctioneer the one that sold the first cow was crap the one that sold the rest was brilliant
