Good evening lovely farmers!
So this is a bit of an ask- I am part of a local Medieval society and we have developed a company called 'olde era events' www.oldeera.co.uk We have developed a series of medieval buildings/ stalls/ tents and activities that we have been hiring out and taking to parties/ weddings etc. However the big dream is to find a plot of land that we could house our structures on a more permanent basis, and have people visit us. This could be in an educational manner- think school trips through to shield making/ blacksmithing/ leatherworking. We also hope to use the tavern as a wedding venue for something truely spectacular, immersive and very different.
we would also love to be able to host reenactment markets and events seeing as there is nothing like this in the North other than the viking side of York.
All of our structures are hand built by ourselves, and we would love to see our vision of a medieval street come to life... we just need the land to do it on!
We are in the stages of writing a business plan, but the main issue is finding a plot and putting a price on it to be able to value the business.
If anyone has anything or would like to know a little more about what our plans are and what we can bring to the table, please do get in touch! We are based in Otley near Leeds LS21 and ideally looking for something in the region. We would need a fairly flat of 2-5 acres and if there is partial woodland, even better. Full woodland could be considered if the area has suitable clearings!
