Any restored Fendt tool carriers

There has just been a large sale at Somerset with a farm condition 1981 Fendt too carrier.

If I ever get rich enougth to have a classic trator in the shed it would be a Fendt tool carrier or Deutz Intrac.

Have many survived & do any of you have photos of one. Has @REStoration ever worked on one?

We had five, the last 395 is local relaxing in semi-retirement, we still have a 380GHA (4cylinder, high clear) on a sprayer, new here in '94, 8000hrs, seen off a couple of rear mounted sprayers though still on the original 2200lt front tank. Never been any trouble but the 6cylinder ones suffered with expensive repairs a bit, dry clutch and brakes, light in the gearbox area, relied on the propshaft brakes too much. I think many 395s were tweaked a bit on arrival to UK, my last395 went on a dyno a few weeks ago, apparently did 110pto...meant to be 115bhp

Yea, I’m running the 395.. does about 600 hours a year on loader work. Was bought about 10 years ago with 10k hours, completely worn out.. gearbox damaged all the way through, few people change the stand alone gearbox oil or even checks the level as cab has to be tipped. Even crown wheel was wrecked. Fendt wanted £10k for parts alone.. Ross Agri sold me a 312 back end for parts to rob. Massive job to rebuild the box, Test even the best of mechanics. lay in bits for 2 years..
engine was shot so a combine engine from manners was bought but that was damaged from water so got rebuilt and makes about 130hp. Good grunty engine but gearbox getting a hard time and bound to give trouble again. The gears inside are not much bigger than a quad!
Fantastic steering lock, great visibility to the loader and really heavy on the backend make the tool carrier far superior to even the best conventional loader tractor. Front loader bolted to front axle so follows it. I run a cut down Matbro boom on the front and it handles it great. 5.5 meters height and great reach is so useful compared to the other loader tractors. Just that dubious gearbox and dry rear brakes that let the tractor down really.

So its a completely different gearbox to a 312 LSA then is it?

When I worked in Portugal we had 275GT which was a lovely tractor . There were quite a few Dutch farmers around running the later ones 380’s and 395’s I think. There were a lot of Fendts around at that time in the early 90’s as the Portuguese were recipients of large amounts of European money that they didn’t know what to do with our neighbour treated himself to a Favorit 615 to take him, his wife and the goats to market even though he was only farming 15 acres. I have been looking for a toolcarrier for a look time but they are not cheap
