See other posts on "Swallows 2021" our first one was 24th March which was the earliest ever and it had a mate a week later.

Three arrived two days ago! Usually have upwards of 40 nests in the garage during summer. The noise when going out to sort springers at 4am for market is deafening but wonderful at the same time.

We had 20 or 30 swallows and house martins flying low over a lodge next to lambing fields today, dodging the hail and sleet that was coming down. They were still there as it was going dark. First one was 29th March this year. They might not be landing on the wires in the yard for a fortnight though, they're always a lot earlier on the water.

I’ve seen a few about in various places but not at mine until yesterday. They arrive at the end of the lane about 10 days before they get to my place every year.

We've had a pair prospecting their old nesting place in the old stable , since Wednesday . I was beginning to think they had abandoned us .

Heard on radio 4 that some have already been sighted. Would that be in the west country or would they fly to Kent first?
Mid Cornwall here earliest ever for us was 29th March, normally around the 6th/7th April, always reports of early ones around Marazion.

Always lifts my mood to see them return but they nearly always fetch a bit of nasty weather with them. Every year I think they must regret coming so soon.
