Any thoughts on these patches?

A comprehensive soil test used there. What did it cost per sample if you don't mind me asking?

I'd give it some trace elements, probably Brassitrel Pro https://www.yara.co.uk/crop-nutriti...MI2fiq_e2g5QIVSlXTCh0MuwjpEAAYASAAEgK6p_D_BwE

Just a litre next time you're going through with a spray (check compatibility with the other ingredients) and a couple of litres in the spring once growth has started properly. A tissue test in late Feb might be a good idea to see what's actually in the crop. Do a trial plot without to see the differences for interest. I have high pH soils of 8.2+ (6.8 is not high!) and routinely apply boron every year after tissue testing. I boost sulphur doses with rotational kieserite as my Mg indices are low but your look ok. You've correctly put some sulphur on with the starter fertiliser but consider a higher proportion of S in future orders. I've gone from N32 to N30.3 to get more S on.

@cricketandcrops might have a view on this, especially as I've just given Yara a double shout...!

As bad as it sounds, I’m not sure what the cost is as haven’t had the bill yet ?, however it tells me a few things about our organic matter levels and such. We are making the cross over to no till this year, For many reasons a couple being moisture and nutrient retention.......hadn’t got the drill at the point I drilled the rape ?.

Can appreciate where your coming from on the foliar feed approach, planning on getting over it when I can travel next

In the absence of any pest attack, I can't see anything that would explain why the patches are thinner other than soil type. There was nothing bad in the results other than the level of sand which doesn't help nutrient retention, though your CEC looked ok.

It’s almost at the point where I’m going to try and hope that some nutrient mapping other than P,K Mg and PH mapping (which I’ve had done and doesn’t correspond with the patching)would bring something up, but where to start, and how much can I afford to throw at it? However not knowing whether I’m doing something incorrectly that could result in this is a concern

Have taken some samples this morning, soil and tissue from affected and non affected area. Be interesting to see results

Did you test any plant tissue in the wheat? Just because it's in the soil doesn't always mean it's available to the plant when it needs it. Tissue testing isn't the ultimate either - it's only a snapshot in time and an external stress situation e.g. cold or wet weather, recent N dose etc could alter the picture. You're absolutely right to test against the good bits of the field for a meaningful comparison.
