Anyone bought or made a spray system for parlour entry to combat flies?

We only milk 130 but it feels like milking 500 the amount of times they kick the units off!

Looking at misting systems on Amazon but the reviews aren't good.

Heard of spray booms off crop sprayers being used,another way would be a nozzle on a parlour fan.

Scrap 24m sprayer booms here if any locals want a couple of lengths for above a door.

Get cows in for milking, go have a coffee for 15 mins

I used to have a lengh of 20mm alkathine pipe with drilled in it and sprayer nozzles on worked well but never put it back up after extending the parlour.

I've got on really well with a pour on fly treatment the last few years.

decent fan blowing over the cows and pit - gamechanger! Flies can't fly in rapidly moving air, cools cows and milkers as well

Farm I milk at has got a little mist sprayer it’s basically a 5 litre drum with an electric motor on top get cows in turn on sprayer for about 1 minute wait 5 minutes and away you go trouble is it’s got no name on it and it came from a farm sale so we don’t know much about it . Do you spray front legs belly with the hose when they come in we find this a massive help

We had a hessian sack soaked in diesel over the door in our old abreast parlour.

Keeps the cows and milkers cool and flys don’t like flying in wind.

Plus 1 for this. A hose attached to the booms at a very low pressure gives a fine mist over entrances.
Spray the parlour first to zap anything lurking and hungry.

Cows loved it.
