Oh don't you know, Brexit barriers only apply on exports to the EU, not imports from the EU. Anything arriving here is simply waved through.

I jest, but its not far from the truth
tell me about it lol , just to many hurdles from france , thought ireland might be a bit easier by now

In reality it's quite far from the truth, the UK have put a lot of new rules in place since we left and have not been good at keeping customs up to date on them.
Over the past couple of years I have had 3 shipments of semen turned away (one of which dumped by UK customs along with the tank) and I know of 2 occasions where a load of cattle that sat in livery in France for several days due to the UK not knowing what its own import rules are.

A tank of semen from Germany has gone from €250 to around €800, and over the past 18 months the rules have changed 3 times.

Most livestock are no problem to bring in anywhere. You need the correct Vet cert and a Route Plan approved by Defra and the vehicle has to be a Higher Standard vehicle and the driver an over 8 hour certificate.
We are still operating under EU rules. So for sheep it is Scrapie ARR/ARR.

Vet inspection on departure and in theory on arrival at the entry point but the latter can be completed at the end of the journey. Completed journey log has to be returned within 30 days. We don't have any BCP's (Border Control Posts).
