Anyone doing something a bit different

I really think the stress around glyphosate withdrawal is pointless. It will get a 10 yr renewal, and if it doesn't, the chemical boys will have an alternative. E.g glufosinate.

Seriously, don't worry about something that hasn't happened yet.

I wondered what sort of effect a good dose of liquid N through some flat fans would have in burning up weeds? The idea came this year as I had some cultivated land ahead of spring oats and I didnt have any dribble bars - thought I could kill 2 birds etc by putting the first dose of N on and scorch some weeds at the same time.

I was thinking, in my simple way about not using pre harvest roundup on winter barley because of losses due to poor August weather and taking it off earlier for crimp instead.
One of the advantages of using G/sate before WB is to keep twitch under control but also to leave a clean seed bed for stubble turnips.
However upon reading the label for Falcon , used to control volunteer barley in S/ turnips it claims control over twitch and wild oats among other things.
So it could be argued that the pre harvest glypho wasn't needed.

Damn.

For burning small weeds off, try applying 3 litres of adjuvant oil in 100 l/ha water on a hot sunny day. The resulting severe scorch might be enough.

You wont have couch seeds buried at the moment waiting to come to the surface, they are carried in via combines/ balers, muck, bits of root from the headland etc. Its always growing around electric poles despite nuking it off with a knapsack of 10 times roundup strength several times.
i know what ye mean.
i am convinced bird droppings spread it.
ive noticed it returns under electric wires

low hp requirement fast shallow cultivator like a carrier as many passes as time allowed between crops creating a fallow stale seedbed weeds destroyed by cultivation instead of glyphosate

This is the claydon concept is it not... The terrastar with 1 or 2 passes and then a pass with the straw rake. Idea is to hit the field just as black grass is poking through so that it doesn't have time to put its hormone down and prevent other seeds from chitting.

Like it or not this would be 1 of 2 choices if glyphosate was banned.
