Anyone had a barn put up recently?

Looking for a ballpark cost for the full job. Level field with good access. Hardcore floor would do to start. 465m2 so roughly 90'x45' ish so it will be permitted development? Steel frame with concrete and timber sides so fully enclosed but with controllable ventilation. Fibre roof is fine.

What sort of money am I looking at roughly for the whole build? I can't put any time to it myself this year.

Just finished a 90'x30' single pitch wood/machinery store, 1.5m concrete panels on 3 walls, Yorkshire boarding to roofline & fibre roof. We needed bigger steel as we're 1000ft up but total cost came to around £28k. Added a 6" reinforced concrete floor & 5m apron for £11k.

I'd advise not to use Robinsons Ltd. I had to re-source another contractor to finish when they went AWOL 3/4 of the way through the job, took them an age to get started also.

If you use Rob Barrons or Richard Triggs they will both quote near enough £4.50/ sq ft for and erected frame with roof and gutters. An 8 foot high poured wall on a 15 foot bay will be £500 and the Yorkshire board cladding is the only bit you might be able to haggle on a bit but I'd expect it to be about £3k to do 3 sides from eaves to walls.

Thanks for the thoughts folks. A bit more than I guessed but I suppose realistic. Plenty of kits on eBay for £5k but I suppose that's supply only and probably not the best fit.

I gaze wistfully at steel kits on ebay from time to time, before i realise we have no money, or time (or expertise) to put it up. I also dream of having someone come and put up the whole thing for me....
I would so dearly love a shed for all the plant, trailers and vehicles, straw/hay for a year at a time, workshop, business kitchen and cold stores....

Be nice wouldn't it? Maybe apply to Bossfarmer's Farmers in need fund. I was looking at polytunnel type lambing shed things but useful as that may be, I doubt it's going to be an alternative to a proper secure barn long term.

After your 'borrow half a mill' thread i said to my OH, can we borrow £50k more and put our business on the next level?

You can imagine the answer.
Yeah. Slow and steady eh? Still no idea if it's best or not but I suppose as long as you have little chance of going broke and can enjoy the sunset with your family in a stunning location, there is little to complain about. I imagine next year I'll be ordering one of them kits and around 2023 we'll pull it out of the nettles as we've got the footings in.

My OH is ambitious when it comes to the business side but I'm the one that has to work within limits on the farm. She wants an on site farm shop I want a shed and other infrastructure to improve efficiency and work at finding other outlets
I feel like ultimately we'd be good for another £50k even if it all failed. We're in our early 30s still
