“To discuss the possibility of the farmers cooperative investing in the market”....I received the same message, it doesn’t surprise me. My neighbour had to wait 3 weeks to be paid after selling there. Looks like they have a few cash flow issues ?

Is the problem late payers or big pay outs when folk have left in a hurry.

@Hfd Cattle posted about Newark on the price tracker thread the other day!

Sounds like either farmers step in and save the market with a large cash injection or its done for sadly!

By what I understand they are asking farmers to invest £3000 each in shares to keep market afloat . Someone from Skipton Market is overseeing the process.

Don't know ..... just passing on what I heard in market last week and asked on another thread but got no replies but there must be an element of truth in it ..... one of the drovers in HFD market comes from that way .

As I remember, arent Newark owned by a husband and wife team, both of an age when they might take things a bit easier and not have the stress?
Mr Gentry going suddenly, and also a good man in James Sealey, and the challenge of selling sheep when one man is buying a large proportion of them, just might have unsettled their confidence in the job?
Hence gauging the likely level of support in future.
