Only trouble with Worcester is they take so long to pay out . Doesn't help for cash flow.
I've not heard anything like that, I understood it was business as normal. I often get a few stores sent from there on a saturday.Local rumour going round it’s closing for good at the end of next week? Anyone know any more?

Hopefully I'll find out middle of next week what entries are like for the Blondes. As far as I know the Multi Breed Sale including Lincoln Red Cattle(for anyone that is Interested) is on the 21st March and I have done all the paperwork for my Yearling heifer that is entered. H & H are advertising the autumn sale as well .

Nothing can go return home on a red day, the buyers are all kill men. Green days are mostly store days and if you dont like the price you can take stock homeCan I ask what are green and red markets. Here in Ireland all marts work the same. Tia
They red days were started after F&M so works like a collection centre but buyers bid rather than have a set price but everything has to go to slaughter. Seems like a southern thing don’t see any up here as far as I knowCan I ask what are green and red markets. Here in Ireland all marts work the same. Tia
It's because of TB - can sell animals straight to slaughter when under restriction, this includes a red market. Can't sell cattle from a TB restricted farm or without a pre-movement test in high risk or edge area to a green market (even if you sold it in a fat ring because someone might take it home). They red days were started after F&M so works like a collection centre but buyers bid rather than have a set price but everything has to go to slaughter. They had an offer months ago to take over/run the market but it was rejected/ignored. Sometimes you can't help people who don't want to be helped.Newark and Sherwood District Council has taken steps to terminate its lease with Newark Cattle Market due to substantial rent arrears.
The Council owns the Cattle Market site and has been pursuing the leaseholder for non-payment of rent. Despite having made numerous attempts to work with the leaseholder and provide assistance and flexibility where possible around the rent arrears, the leaseholder has continually failed to meet the agreed schedule of payments and the Council has been left with no alternative than to terminate the lease.
Councillor David Lloyd, Leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “It’s extremely disappointing that we’ve been forced to take this action but it would be unfair on every other business and resident in Newark and Sherwood who pays their taxes if we simply ignored the Cattle Market’s substantial and longstanding arrears. We’ve provided the Cattle Market leaseholder plenty of time and every opportunity to settle their significant rent arrears. Terminating the lease of the Cattle Market is not a decision that we’ve taken lightly and we’re obviously concerned about the impact on our local farming community. The reality though is that we have lost trust and confidence in the current leaseholder and have exhausted every informal avenue to secure repayment of monies owed to the Council. Regrettably, we have been left with no option but to terminate the lease with them.”
It is likely that the Cattle Market may close this weekend. The Council is mindful of the importance of the Cattle Market to the local rural community. We are considering alternative arrangements for the market to continue over the short term on its current site, and, for the long term on an alternative site, if a viable or sustainable solution can be achieved.
