Anyone here ever built their own tractor?

Was whiling away some lockdown time last night by leafing through some old magazines, and I came by this old issue of Power Farming. Has anyone else here ever built their own tractor? Does anyone know the farmer in the feature? I’m sure someone told me a long while ago that they knew him, and that the tractor had since been dismantled, but I may have got that wrong.

it was built by jft engineering at holt (nr Wrexham) think it used the back end of an old international (think it was an 806) and front axle off a jcb 3cx. Was used to pull a sh40 then got chopped up as speedster mentioned and turned into a self propelled with an 80hp Perkins driving the wheels and a truck engine to drive the forager.

I vaguely recall reading about that somewhere, not sure if magazine or the old forum.
