Anyone made any hay yet?

Watching Simons look ahead forecasts there is no settled spell on the horizon.
But things can change quickly. I hope.

He did also say there was going to be a decent settled spell in the second half of July. Like every other forecaster he's at the mercy of the models, and fundamentally they can't predict with any accuracy more than a few days out. They are even 100% wrong inside that time frame as well. The week of the 17th onward was supposed to be a heatwave, if you read the forecasts the previous week. Turns out it was two dry sunny days then massive storms.

Yes forecasting for a little island that is at the mercy of the jet stream must be very difficult.
I just watched his new long range forecast and he is still saying there are signs of a few settled days in the second week of August!
Next week is poor.

2nd cut almost going over the top, no point in cutting it if we cant see it dry long enough to wrap never mind make hay but will have to go soon or 3rd cut wont happen before sowing cereals

I often wonder if the forecasters look back over their previous months forecasts and analize what went wrong- and why!

Our local tv weather at dinner time said a dry day with rain coming in early evening. It had been raining heavily over an hour at that time but their rain radar didn't show it yet my rain alarm radar showed it clearly!

Looks like more rain for this afternoon This last week it would have been difficult to make baled silage let alone hay, but my baler control box had a burn out so even that was scuppered. Luckily, Messers Kings have rebuilt it and it is on its way back so hopefully we can get going this week.

Glad I baled my rubbish yesterday, just looked at forecast (came in due to rain stopping farming this afternoon) and decided not to worry about cutting more for a few days at least.
