Anyone on here in the Firewood game?

Yes...very well stacked and green just wondered if a cube of green beech would come to a tonne, then i should be able to get two small loads to a cube. Thing is im not sure what the guy i bought it from calls m3 i know he measures the stack hight x lengh x depth..maybe he accounts for air space so is selling as a solid m3. I bought a small stack last season from them which was 15m3 so say 15 tonne, but it went on for ever i think i got 40 small loads which is i know about 500kgs green. Not complaning as i think i got a good deal Not sure what i will do with it all though...How long will big beech butts last in a wood sat on bearers anyone know?

I see,our lot will not give it away ,they put it up for auction, firms are paying 90 a ton stood up.so for you to have it for very little you are cery lucky

They used to leave it in the woods as "habitat" until the kids started to make bonfires with it. Not normally a problem until you realise the wood is growing on reclaimed coal spoil heaps. Hence the reason I now chase the tree surgeon.

I am a sad git, and I will admit it, I could watch that firewood machine work for hours. Don't try and tell me you could possibly class that as 'work'.

Interesting though, would a circular saw be a better/faster/less maintenance alternative to a mechanical chainsaw type deely?

Of course a circular saw is far better thats why the professionals use them. The tungsten tip on circular saws has made a big difference.
Your quite welcome to come for a day of work experience operating the machine and then see whether your opinion of work still stands. Might have to charge you gym fees for the weight lifting.

Sami Autofactory, an automated wood factory where all you would need to do is keep supplying the logs. Price of the chopper was 20k plus the last time I heard of it.

My set up palax SG 90 power .
The deck has hydraulic fluted rollers linked up to the feed in belt which makes life loads easier. Then over the cleaner the dumpy bags is catching the bits that fall through the bars .

Thankfully I am far more efficient then that, Cannot believe the labour force employed in that factory handling the timber. Once in the IBC container my wood is dried and delivered to customer without any further physical handling.
