It needs to hold a few bags unless you have a couple of handlers or you will forever be changing back to and forth to fill it up first then load the drill

I have fitted a ram to this 2 ton tote bin, it works well for my system. It makes it quicker in the field as you just drive up and put as much or as little in as you want.

After all the replies about a bag handler recently, I have been discussing the safety concerns or comments with our men. Obviously the one area is lifting bags filling drills, and although they are only too aware to never be under a bag at height, they asked if we couldn’t avoid using multi use bags for hss altogether. The suggestion is a bag filler bucket for the jcb with a hydraulic shutter, which can either fill bags if required, but better still fill direct to the drill hoppers without anyone having to be near them.
Anyone got a make they can recommend? Or any tips or comments about them please.

I bought this recently and used it this spring. Just fill it like a bucket direct from the heap in the grain shed and it’s narrow enough to tip straight into the drill hopper without spilling.

Thanks for the replies, I will check out the makes suggested that I haven’t looked at yet.
We already have auger fill on the seed cart but with bigger hoppers on the Avatar Martyn has decided that it’s just too slow.
Would give the option of filling bags safely if required and safe filling direct to the drill hoppers. Any decent size bucket would be too wide to fill the front hopper on the tine drill setup. Hence wanting hydraulic shutter control.

Slightly off topic but I’m thinking of something like this to back fill gravel after drainage? Basically on the front of telehandler then drive over trench with this boomed out in front filling it, then back to heap to scoop up and go again?
Would this work , or would a auger bucket stand gravel? I suspect not for long unless special auger flight.
Anyone come up with any other ideas

hopper buckets are too small to fill a drill (most seem to be circa 1t) - 2 or 3 refills required to fill the hopper of an avatar, when miles from store how do you do that fast !

Personally I think the buckhorn seed boxes are the best option. But feel they are prohibitively expensive.

They are popular in the US, many seed companies supply seed in them.

these are great but circa £400 each I think ?

longer term use though cheaper than bags and much safer?

you only need enough for a days drilling i guess really though

That was my thoughts too. Could fill them with my auger bucket.

Hopefully you can negotiate a deal through farm marketplace!

Remember that metal on metal, like these hoppers that slide on to pallet forks can be very dangerous, especially if wet. They need to be pinned on to forks. There was a tragic accident locally with one a few years ago when it slid off and hit someone.

No bags required
Just a long piece of string
Holds a ton
