What variety of beans did you use? Winter or spring? I’ve got some winter left and was thinking that I may put them in early spring if weather allows me too.I’ve spun on at 24m with Kuhn using book settings and incorporated in Feb!!! with a Lemken terradisc type machine and had a surprisingly good crop. I was worried about pre em damage so upped the seed rate.
Wizard. Feb broadcast and cultivated in yielded as well as dec ploughed in. Repeated the experiment this autumn but worried that I’m suffering bad crow damage. I was surprised how little I had last year, think I may have been lucky….What variety of beans did you use? Winter or spring? Do you have special coulters? I thought vads often blocked with beans?I span some on with a Kuhn and ploughed in then ran the powerharrow over it, you could see the wheelings all year in the two fields I did, I recon you'd get a decent crop by pulling a cultivator through as opposed to ploughing them I was going to be spinning the rest of mine on this year but managed to get going again with my Vaddy drilling them yesterday, 55ac to go then done.
Last year I drilled winters in the spring (Tundra) and they did equally as well as Autumn sown but were a good 2 weeks later to harvest
No, it's just a Vad Box drill 3m, been trundling along at 14kph, get the odd coulter block but nothing more and usually caused by bits of stone in the seed, hopefully will finish this afternoon. Have shallowed the drill up a bit as ground is tender in places and was getting it block up, but that was circa 4" deep. Just under 7ha a tank full.Do you have special coulters?
