Anyone still growing JB Diego?

Gosh I miss it.

Anyone had it in the ground this year, and if so how has it done? Costello & skyscraper here, both of which have been cr@p.

Is Diego now "outclassed", and is it madness to grow it without epoxi and CTL?

Thanks!

It's my only variety again this year, I have it as first wheat after beet drilled from November to January and as second, third and continuous wheat.

Can't tell you how it's doing as I haven't cut any yet but for the year it looks good and hand rubbed samples look ok.

Rust is the biggest thing to watch any spray misses at T1 looked like they'd been round upped by t3.

A friend who also still grows it said last year it knocked the spots of gravity drilled in the same field so I'm pretty sure he's all Diego again this year.

I grew Jb Diego this year aswell , performed better than Gleam . Got 77kg weight, ran about 4 ton an acre as a first wheat.
I was going to stop growing it this year and grow Costello instead but now having second thoughts after your post !

I'd like to see it in RL trials still to see how it sits against the others.
I assume yield may be a bit low but I bet untreated yield, rust and septoria scores wouldn't be any different to a lot of the newbie dogs dangly varieties.

It's done the business here again as a mix of first second and continuous.

Not a bad sample considering the year.

Only Wheat variety grown here, strong demand for Feed Wheat in this area. Done enough to grow again next year, as ever mighty consistent performance with plenty of straw. As mentioned above any spray misses looked shocking. R.I.P CTL and Epoxy! This year be a decade of Farm Saving Seed of JB.

From a mixed farmer point of view it does produce nice straw and lots of it, some wheat straw I bale is utter crap in comparison.
