One thing i like to would add , and this might not just be ford, but there is not longer an instruction manual booklet , its apparently on line if you want to find out information ,But maybe i am just a senile old man getting behind the times !!!

Ours has a manual.

There's a 2.0 Ranger not far from here thats supposedly been re-mapped to 280hp. I haven't seen the owner lately to ask what the reliabilities been like.

The US base model Ranger gets the petrol 2.3L Ecoboost, which is a slightly detuned version (270bhp) of the engine previously used in the Mustang and Focus RS. Jammy gits.
2.7 EcoBoost is supposed to be quite quick with the 10 speed auto, imagine that in a Ranger instead of a F150.

User manuals are a waste of time nowadays,

3 pages telling you useful stuff like where the fuse box is what the tyre pressures should be and where the bonnet release catch is hidden and stuff like that,

50 pages explaining why drinking the contents of the battery, washer bottle, radiator, fuel and adblue tanks are a bad idea.

Then a further 1000 pages or so dedicated to explaining how the telly screen in the dashboard works!

Who ever reads all that safety stuff? I suppose the day when your drink of battery acid and screen wash makes you a bit poorly then it’s no use setting your no win no fee solicitor on to get you a pile of cash from Ford as they said not to do it in the manual 🤪

1000 pages of how to use the in car entertainment tele screen and you still can’t listen to The Archers as by the time you’ve found the right page and thus which button to press it‘s finished and The Shipping Forcast is on 🧐

I knew as I was writing it someone would reply saying there was a bloke down the road that has bought a chip off EBay and now gets 500hp out of it ;) To be honest I have no idea if what the tuning expert on the vid was correct, which it probably wasn’t as throw enough money at it and guess you’ll get more out of it.

Ive often wondered why when diesel is very bad and very smelly we don’t get the option of a petrol engine in a pickup - er I mean Ute 😁 More so as a there are quite a few that do a lot of short runs of which does a diesel DPF no good at all? I thought when VW went from 2.0 to 3.0 then we might see a move back to a bigger engine in the ‘Ute’ market. Much as I love Chris at York Vans and he says a bigger engine really does not matter, well to me it really does. The sound and lazy torque of a V6 or V8 for that matter is something to behold. The noise a 1.9 Isuzu and others makes is something akin to a Post Van when your not revving the nuts off it with loaded trailer up hill. V8 might be a bit extreme but feel we are nearly at the last hurrah for the internal combustion engine, in cars, vans and pickups. I was at BATA, or local ag supply store and snagged some bags of coal next to the pumps. Lad behind till asked me if there were any left as the bin wanted restocking. He said they had one more pallet of coal left then thought that might be it. Change is happening! Quite what coal has to do with anything unless you drive a steam engine

Allegedly the 2.7 is a demon off the line and at traffic lights, another option would be the good old "green top" /LPG Barra engine into a Ranger but that would seriously f**k off Audi/BMW/MB/ and Porsche owners/renters/drivers...😂

My son had a diesel 3litre BMW for a short time (it was a loan car). I had a drive and it was a lovely engine. Quiet and smooth as and pulled like a train. Why we can’t have Utes with that engine in - well I suppose we did with the Amorak.

(This week I’m mostly calling a pickup a Ute so as not to offend our Pacific dwelling cousins  )

I spotted this Holden Maloo ute / pickup on a stand at the 'Gold Coast 600' at Surfers Paradise a few years back, and realised that us Europeans are being given the shitty end of the emissions stick while the rest of the world get decent engines. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the actual truck, just the engine bay
525 kW is about 700hp at the wheels. 710kW at the flywheel = 952hp

And... its only two-wheel drive!!!!!

On anything other than 'light throttle' there wont be any traction, in 2 or 4 wheel drive.

There is a guy driving a 2.7 tuned up to about 400hp and it hooks up very very promptly in rear wheel drive mode with the traction control off. I'm talking 0-60 in 5 seconds which is respectable for many sports cars. Be hilarious to show up a lot of cars at the lights in the UK.

I took youngest son to Donnington a couple of years ago to watch the LMP3 race (Le Mans Prototype). I was surprised and somewhat amused to find that the LMP3 cars all have to use the same 420hp Nissan 'VK50VE' engines, taken from a Nissan Titan pickup truck:

And before someone says that the LMP3 runs a tuned version, then yes, it does.
- Ligier LMP3, 420hp.
- Nissan Titan, standard factory spec, is only 400hp 😂
