I've put 400 acres of mulika in over the last 2 weeks. Realistically being march drilled it will be full of ergot and end up as feed. Mulika is the only gp1 spring wheat. I'll just be happy with a shed full of wheat, milling or feed

my rationale for putting in some SW
With the puddled in WW we got in
At least there should/will be somat in the shed to sell next season

We have just had Evans and Pearce in with there color sorter and cleaned 300t of Cochise. more than worth while especially with full milling premium on mulika

Oh well if push comes to shove you never know how far the goal posts will be moved by the millersin times of real shortage ,but only time will. Meanwhile hope it yields well even if it only makes feed grade.
Once grain leaves the farm you don't know where it really ends up unless delivering with your own truck/tractor trailer which you are driving yourself. ;);)

In my ignorance , I have to ask, will gravity separators or colour separators(I may have the incorrect name),separate ergot out of wheat? Thankyou

How late would people dare go with drilling Spring wheat? Ive got a block of heavy ground that was cultivated in the autumn but is only now dry enough to do anything with.
Was planning to just fallow it with a green cover and go early with wheat next year but now i could actually drill it and i do have seed available i'm wondering if i should just go for it?

Depends on variety id still drill up to the middle of April and still get harvested in early Sept. I have 15 acres to go in after maize . The field took a hammering last backend and after grubbing out the tracks last week will plough it this week and drill it hopefully straight after . When im done then it might be considered late !!!!!

I've started drilling spring wheat today. It'll be what it will be. Its still cold, so if I could have drilled a fortnight ago I'm not sure it would have got very far.
I'm not sure I wanted all of my spring cereals as spring barley, and I don't fancy oats.

Is your land heavy Bedford clay that can stand dry weather, unlike Cotswold Brash( Trash)? Thankyou

Would those be your fields by the Swindon Road, looked to be going well and dead straight(y)(y)(y)
Lol, GPS for you!! Got some clay caps the far end so didnt wish to pull something through it as they are still very wet and would only have pulled up horrible wet lumps so sprayed off last week and in with combi, would normally use the Vaddy but would loose it in the clay
