Anyone tried pod sealant on CSFB to gum up their mouthparts?

I was thinking mint/garlic to repel them but I’m guessing someone has already tried...

Chillis, or the capsicum in them, can repel insects, no idea if it would work on CSFB.

Chilli powder/tobasco might keep them off if it tastes a bit spicy! We need to think outside the box nowadays. Im thinking of trialing a garlic or citrus type spray at early emergence to stop the beetles smelling the plant and migrating into the field.

I always apply a good dose of manganese and magnesium sulphate with any insecticide. Hopefully it gives them the sh!ts.

A trial was carried out on our OSR last Autumn with various concentrations of garlic and chilli. Made no difference on CSFB.....and yes Chilli does block nozzles!

If anyone is considering adding these to a pyrethroid be aware that the cations in the salty water you’ve just created (as well as any hardness already there if on bore/mains water) will reduce the efficacy of the insecticide.

My neighbour grows water cress for Morrisons and hates it when I grow osr in the next fields to him. All he can use is citronella and sticky traps.

I’ve tried that! He did offer to buy Biscaya insecticide to go in the tank last time but by then it was far too late for another pass & well past the cut off for it anyway.

Only what Google will tell you. I’ve got some but never used it, inherited it along with all sorts of other stuff I’d rather not have.
