Just a thought before bedtime.
To be clear, I am talking about after crop emergence, not just before harvest.

Do you think I’d block the sprayer if I put a wheelbarrow full of chilli powder in the top? Wonder if we can buy Tabasco in an ibc...Chillis, or the capsicum in them, can repel insects, no idea if it would work on CSFB.

I’ll be rich if it works! Family might think I’ve lost it!!Find an old tea urn and boil some up! Worth a try with a knapsack on a trial plot maybe?
Chilli powder/tobasco might keep them off if it tastes a bit spicy! We need to think outside the box nowadays. Im thinking of trialing a garlic or citrus type spray at early emergence to stop the beetles smelling the plant and migrating into the field.Could do with something to deter pigeons aswell
You wouldn’t think it would be that hard to do
I always apply a good dose of manganese and magnesium sulphate with any insecticide. Hopefully it gives them the sh!ts.

In the immortal words of @DrWazzock (I have never forgotten this )
Majestic insecticide does what you are talking about.
Perhaps he will pay you not to.
Only what Google will tell you. I’ve got some but never used it, inherited it along with all sorts of other stuff I’d rather not have.any further info.
