Anyone use an ipad pro/surface or tablet for taking notes?

As above, I'd be interested in the experiences of anyone who uses a device to physically handwrite notes in/on, or perhaps you have kids who do?

I dislike laptops immensely as they have useless keyboards and my handwriting has always been diabolical so I am sceptical of the idea as I managed Uni with plain pen and paper last time.

Using a device all day everyday, does it work, what is battery life like etc- I keep being obliged to try OneNote and EverNote obviously Apple have their own app as well.

Entering the 21st century, who'd have thunk it.

Thanks

Not really an option unfortunately, I need to take detailed notes by hand.

I am aware of a colleague that uses an iPad with stylus for taking all his notes at meetings in longhand style. Unfortunately I don’t think he is on TFF.
He’s a pretty organised sort of chap so it obviously works well for him. Probably more reliable than me trying to type on my laptop

Sounds good. I might need to pop into an Apple store for a play to make sure it works with my sinister handed handwriting style.

Hope you back up regularly. Nothing seems to work properly on my elderly iPad anymore, well at least where browsing is concerned.

I've used OneNote for years and now use it with styluses for freehand writing at work. I purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with a stylus thinking it would be perfect. It is ok but I needed it for use whilst walking around. It's just a but a bit large. The main problem is that it isn't splash proof, which is a big problem in rain and when cows are kicking muck about. The screen when wet thinks you're touching it which results in all sorts of random stuff happening. Not long after I got it I purchased a Samsung Note 3 phone. It's perfect for handwritten notes on the move as it has its own stylus. Either with OneNote, which I use, or any other writing app. It's waterproof within reason and I've used it in heavy rain without a problem.

As an aside, I don't think it matters with such things what OS you're signed up to. My main work tools are OneNote and Excel. My desktop is an iMac, my phone is android and I'm writing this on a Windows laptop. All use the same software on each using the cloud to store files. I never have a problem. When I get home, the notes I make on my phone or tablet are already on my desktop by the time I sit down.

Not an Apple, Ollie, but I do rate the Samsung Note, for what I do with it.

My "handwriting" is like a general practice's doodlepad, yet it still manages to decipher my glyph without too many howlers; you can still tap real keys if it is a critical piece of info (which I seldom have in my possession)

I've had a Note 4 for what must be 3 or 4 years now, suits me down to the ground as a phone but heck I can't write on it.
Just realised I said I have a Note 3 when I meant a Note 8. I assume you're writing and then converting to typing? I don't do this and just leave my notes as hand written. So long as I can read them it doesn't matter how bad my writing is.
