App update needed for iOS

You can't delete Bixby so I deleted the phone
If it helps other people….

you can swipe right on the home screen into the Bixby Home hub, and toggle the "Bixby Key" off – to disable Bixby for as long as you like. If you head to Settings > Advanced Features > Bixby Key, you can also remap it onto another function.

If you want to remove the Bixby Home menu pane entirely, you should press down on a blank section of the home screen, which will bring all of the smartphone’s menu panes into view. In the top right corner of the Bixby Home pane is a toggle to remove it.

You can download Google Assistant from Google Play store as an alternative if you want and open the app whenever you want to use that device instead.

To make another smart assistant the default on your Android Pie phone, head to Settings > Apps > Default > Assist and voice input > Assist app. For Android Oreo phones, this becomes Settings > Apps and notifications > Advanced > Assist and Voice Input > Assist app.

You must have an iPhone 6 or older then. This means it is probably six or even seven years old, which isn't bad going for a smartphone. Every iPhone after that, including the 6S, can be updated to the very latest iOS 14.6
Perhaps you deserve a new all-singing-and-dancing iPhone after all this time? iPhone 12 is very nice indeed and has a much bigger screen than the standard 6 7 or 8 in a similar size body. From the X [ten] they did away with the massive wasted part that are the bezels or chin and forehead plus the home button. Also added extra storage capacity, much better cameras and really blazing-fast processors.
Tell me, what will a new one do that my 6 doesn't that justifies the cost of a new one? The newer the phone the more likely I am to damage it! This one has had full submersion in a loo, caught fire when I compromised a stubborn battery during replacement and this year I spider webbed the screen and yet still does everything I need a phone to do. nearly £800 for an iPhone 12... its no wonder we have to put cheap food on peoples plates!! #missplacedpriorities!

If you want an update go for an SE (2020 model). Better battery life, faster processor and it’s waterproof. About £300 I think, and your old protector case from your 6 will fit too.

Whether you wish to upgrade or not is entirely up to you. If you are happy with your 6, that's all that matters. My wife has a bigger 7 and I have a standard 8, both of which still do the job for us and will do until some really worthwhile improvements are made to the range. Hopefully.

That your 6 still works and keeps you satisfied does rather counter your very own argument of course. You just don't need to upgrade and even though perhaps some new apps won't work on yours, if you upgrade some old one won't work with that. Such is progress.

It's basically a slightly better iPhone 8. Not enough of a jump to justify upgrading from a 6 in my opinion. You would be better upgrading to a X if you can still find one. Mint refurbished ones go for about £350.
New iPhone12 is £600 + VAT.

To much crap on phones and not enough focus on things like battery life

What you need is a Motorola G9 or G10 Power phone which gives you up to three days of moderate to heavy use between charges. It has probably the biggest and longest lasting battery available at any price today. You get the lot for £130+VAT.
However if its just that these things are too complex for your needs, I'm afraid you are out of luck. This is the best value in performance to price ratio you can get in a smartphone of quality with decent performance, including camera and battery life today. You just can't go wrong at that price.

There's no reason not to update to the latest version of iOS for a particular device. iOS 12 works on phones up to and including the 6 while the latest iOS14, the latest iOS, works with iPhone6S and newer. So as long as you have a web site that works with both 12 and 14, that's all you need. It's up to the phone's owner and indeed in their very best interest to update to the latest operating system their device supports.

Yes, obviously the desktop version is not designed for use on phones but it works perfectly on iPads and tablets generally.

I suspect that Android phones are more problematic due to those phones seldom having operating system updates, so there is no choice but to stick with the system from the factory or perhaps one more update. Nevertheless there should be the occasional security update for them.

I find the mobile site for TFF to be near perfect on iPhones and Android. As said by Netherfield, it just works from the user's perspective, apart from for one person evidently.
My ipad 4th generation (new in 2012) won't update beyond 10.1.34 It still works fine for most things though. Any idea how to get it up to version 12 as a few newer apps won't install on less?
