Appeal for info issued following theft of Manitou

Another appeal for information has been made in relation to the theft of a Manitou telescopic handler that was taken from a site in Co. Down over the weekend.

The machine was taken from a local building site and driven across nearby fields before making off on main roads.

In a statement on the matter, members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) based in the Co. Down region said:

“On Saturday night [September 19] at approximately 10:20pm the vehicle was stolen from a building site at Cedar Hill, Ballynahinch.

It is suspected it travelled across fields before being driven down the Ballylone Road and Ballynahinch Road and through Saintfield.

“We are appealing for witnesses….did you see this vehicle? Maybe you passed it on the road? Do you have dashcam footage or CCTV that will help us locate it.

“If you have any information please ring us on 101 quoting reference 2312 of 19.09.2020. Alternatively ring Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800-555-111.

“Please share this post far and wide…the more exposure the more likely we can locate this,” the PSNI statement added.

Police seize ‘large cultivation’ of cannabis plants from farm

Last week, police seized 100 cannabis plants after finding a large cultivation on a farm in Wales.

Dyfed-Powys Police officers attended the farm, between Pontarddulais and Tycroes in Carmarthenshire, on an unrelated matter on Tuesday (September 15).

While at the property, they came across the plants growing in two polytunnels.

Sergeant Gemma Davies said: “Our officers were providing support to partner agencies at the property when they noticed two polytunnels on the land.

They looked inside and found 100 cannabis plants in various stages of growth.

“While our officers were not at the farm in relation to concerns over cannabis, this discovery shows the vigilance shown in their surroundings, which resulted in the disruption of a large cultivation.”
