Appealing TB test is it possible

Just had our TB test read today. 1st yearly test after being down on and off for a while. Tested 450ish Cows and youngstock hardly a lump on anything except one 1st laction heifer, with a big lump and a reactor. She is one of our best heifers 80 dim giving 38l, just back in calf and one of my favourites. I know others have it much worse and lose loads in one test, but I think I would have found easier if it was not such a good heifer. Anyway my question is there anyway to get a retest or appeal her as a reactor. I except if she is positive for TB she must go, but don't really believe we would just have one and no other reactors or irs. We have always had a group of irs and reactors before, she was home breed and the rest of her cohort were fine.

No, it always happens to the best, don't put them on a pedestal!
Remember only 3 in 1000 are false positive, 200 in 1000 false negative.
And what is worse, she is unlikely to have lesions because the test is measuring antibodies, which show she has been exposed, not necessarily got it.
I know the feeling.

Had exactly the same a few weeks ago. Tested 600 cattle with 1 reactor. I cussed, swore and stamped my feet in rage suggesting that this cannot ever be right. I wanted to contest the results of this test but animal health told me no chance.

The cow went and she had lesions. So, I was wrong. It's infact the opposite way round that you may need to worry - the test has only picked up one reactor and missed however many...

Somebody not far from us had 160 in one go!! Only 30 didn’t react, they shot the whole lot on farm for some reason and the guy an his son had to load them with telehandler spike shoved up they’re backside because that’s the quickest way to load so say the ministry! They had to be tested themselves an the farm dogs had to be tested an the house family pet reacted an had to be put down!! They were understandably devastated, they don’t show that on the feckin telly!!! Until you control the disease in the wildlife an the cattle you’ve got no chance and the ball will just keep rolling, unless somebody has the backbone to stand by a hard policy of culling to get the number of badgers nationally down, TB will just come an go round an round! It’s all pointless without equal control measures!!

Don't ask to many questions. They might want to do a gamma test......... 😧
