Applying for a Firearms Licence.

Good guess. Don't delay with getting your GP to sign the medical from. Even if there is some resistance in the NHS to comply with this new request, the cops don't want to know. Quote is from DI Jack Regan of the Sweeney, famous for their early morning visits, nicking villains with illegal firearms....

i appreciate we all like a change of topic from what pickup should I buy - or isn't the weather too wet / dry etc

But.... why are we even bothering to debate or to give any oxygen to this thread?

Mods?

Quite agree.;)

Life's difficult enough without having to spend hours on TFF reading about the trials and tribulations of British Farming. As for Mods, well, as I write, they are all probably all at work, one particularly, will probably be up to his ankles in Cow Poop, and all without a care for us and the daily verbal assaults on our delicate wellbeing. For those of us so easily offended by the topics on TFF, I ask, can we please have a personal OFF button? so a responsible adult can use it on our behalf when the moment arrives.................:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I’ve recently had a couple of chaps who shoot neighbors land come here to shoot deer.was talking to one Sunday morning who shoots multiple Calibers of fire arms and he was telling me his associate has had a massive job getting a firearms licence despite trying for absolutely ages.i was quite suprised about this and pleased too as the police are obviously not giving licences to all and sundry.i should probably mention the person is an inspector at the norfolk police HQ.

Grounds for refusing a licence given the various revelations recently about various officers....

Hi all. I am currently applying for my firearms certificate as we speak. I share a house with my old man who has a lisence, a question on the form asks if you share security arrangements with anyone. Is it simpler if I just have my own cabinet etc or can I just share his?
Also, should I avoid mentioning 'humane destruction of farm animals' and just stick to 'pest control'?
Cheers

You will have to have your own cabinet. You cannot share a cabinet unless your old man's firearms are on your ticket and yours are on his.

OK. So my situation is that my father has become very ill and could pass away at any point. I am applying to avoid any complications in this eventuality. Can I just put all of his details (guns, gun storage, security, ammo location and usage, etc) on my application?

Yes. Get an application in straight away and ask for all his weapons to be replicated on yours.

Also find a friend with a licence already who can hold things temporarily, if timing doesn’t work for you.

If you ask to possess the same firearms as your father, you could share the cabinet. It is a problem if the cabinet you are seeking to share contains firearms to which you should not have access.
A shared shotgun cabinet would be okay, unless there were Section 5 guns in there.

Sorry to read this. Normally when applying for an FAC you make an application for the calibre of firearm you require for a stated use (ie target shooting or vermin control) along with an amount of ammunition to be stored. The FEO will approve this first before you can acquire the firearm at which point it can go on your ticket. If your father owned larger calibre rifles as to whether they will transfer them to you for your use may depend on your experience. If you do not want to use them it is possible to get a temporary ticket to hold them short term. Speak to a firearms officer .They are familiar to these situations.

All the best.

Used to share gun cabinet with my dad. We had a shotgun each, a shared .22LR and i had a .17hmr. As long as I had a lock like this on my hmr the police were fine with it.
