I was chatting a manager friend on a large estate nearby whose combine appeared in the local rag “Harvest commences” 🙄.
‘Why have you not started cutting yet’ he asked
’Because it’s not fit’ I replied
’oh we‘ve been cutting for over a week now’ he said
’Well a sh!t crop does ripen a lot quicker’ I said
that was the end of that conversation

When you get your Lexion out of the shed you have to state something portentous on Twitter such as:

‘Winter barley is a go’

A go? What is this mangling of the language? The correct phrase surely, is something like ‘harvest has commenced’

Alternatively:

‘The barley isn’t quite fit but we’re just having a nibble to fully train the team’ Accompanied by a picture of a massive Lexion (it’s always a Lexion) which ‘nibbles’ about 20 acres an hour?

Anyway, once we’re back off holiday next week, it’ll be time to get the Tucano ‘a go’ and train the ‘team’ swiftly followed by an unforeseen breakdown and some predictable cockup.:ROFLMAO::)
Bugger me how the other live you have a toucan , got to get the 3 1680's out the shed yet just finished hay and nothing to cut for 2-3 weeks so no rush yet for us . Too much willie waving going on nice to see a realist like us who is living in the real world and not wanting to be first in the parish to be out . Longer in the bed usually means more in the shed the old boys used to say .:)

I gave you a like for that although I am jealous so would have preferred an unlike button :ROFLMAO:

Not that I have to worry this year, lexion is sold and I just have to call my 2 contractors with big yellow machines. No costly unexpected breakdowns for me 😁

Go red and never look back . Mind for straw quality it has to be yellow .:)(y)

3 though, which is better than 1, I hope they are all numbered?

Sorry why would you want a machine with potential to 🤔
Brand new lexion with 11 hours on the clock went up down the road burnt 30 acres of barley with it .
Driver said he nearly got it out but the extingusher ran out and it rapidly consumed the combine within minutes . Dunno why but there are a awful lot of burnt lexions in breakers yards ....

the favourite thing here is to make a start and tell no one. The gossip goes around pretty quick anyhow. Then when your asked if your going to start you get bragging rights on how far you’ve got. Friend next to me has three 760tt lexions at one point last year two were broken done in the same field. I called to see what had happened and pull his leg. He laughed it off as it was cheaper to have two broken down at once as it was only one call out charge by the dealer.

Be fair now, apart from a bit of spraying these guys with nothing but combinable crops have done bugger all for 9 months. They've got to remind the world that they're still there and actually have something to do for a change, instead of polishing tractors and holidaying;):sneaky:

I'm off to hide :nailbiting:

I think there may be a black combine not too far from you. Have to be careful what you say about that :ROFLMAO:

Two in 10 miles they don,t rock my boat . Well as i have said to a few mates we will get to see plenty of it i recon , it will be parked up with a van for company more than making dust . 2 old axial flows cutting our for Brisel a few years back alongside his 35ft jd rotary cut more in day and put more in the shed than the jd . Might be old but up together kit that does the job for a fraction of the cost is not bad . Was a bit sad to see him leave the area for new pastures new as was hopping to get the chance to put all 3 1680" s in a field to see how 30ks worth of kit does running alongside a large 350 k nh .
In my book big and new ain't always best and now the price of stuff is out of reach for many if they are honest some are having to think again .
Mind you the home where the black one is does not impress me they are playing catch up with there farming methods 10 years + behind in terms of looking after their soils with dd cover crops etc , but because they are doing it now they think they are initative leaders .
Well getting back to the black binder i think I'm right it has Laverda parentage or is built in their factory says it all really . :) .
ps You don't have to send a couple of grain stores worth of grain up the road just to pay for being AGCOS guinnie pig .

I worked for velcourt when I was at college over 30 years ago. Farm I was on had a new 1680 and a Dominator 108. They sent me to Doncaster to do the drivers course and then put me on the 108 :ROFLMAO: So only drove the case a little. The output was huge back then and the cab so much quieter. Fantastically simple machines.

I agree totally about the price Of kit. It was a big decision to sell my combine. It was old and really needed changing. Went through all sorts of ideas and did the numbers on changing for different machines. In the end I’m predominantly a dairy farm with a reasonable amount of arable, the dairy always has a bigger shopping list so the contractor plan works best ( on paper) they also provide a driver which helps my staffing and I don’t have to fix anything. If it gets wet and Im stuffed perhaps I will go and buy a case. I did really like the NH rotary I had on demo last year. I would have loved to drive it for a season.

I saw the demo Fendt the other day, can’t make my mind up about no steering wheel.Could be interesting on the road.

Not a lexion, and wheels are painted wrong colour, but I'm happy. And I know we're tipping over back of the trailer, but it was 1st time around field, tank was full (see what I did, bit of bragging there  ), so just reversed through gateway.

Hopefully another 20 years work left in it.View attachment 975621
Very good but can you get a screenshot of your 12t/ha crops on your work monitor?
