Are modern farmers lazy?

Yes but repairing a few slates is going to be a lot better than getting hay ruined
Also fixing a few slates is a lot more cost effective than waiting for the whole roof to fall down

Depends how well you are insured ;).

Serious answer though is i dont have the equipment to work safely plus being a lone worker would also carry a risk i'm not happy to accept any more.
As it happens i've got some people coming to tidy a few roofs up this year. All harnessed up and what have you, but it does cost.

Yes I agree, but, sometimes needs must

Before any one thinks I'm really harsh, I do give credit where credit is due. One farm in particular stands out in this area. A mixed farm which is around 500-600, farmer by 2 brothers and a son with 2 or 3 works and the place is exemplary. The yard is immaculate, the stock is well cared for and always have plenty of grass. The fields are worked i.e. Topped, rolled, sprayed and sower with fert. Even the ground they rent gets treated as if it's their own. The reason I know this is because we do digger work for the man that owns some of the rented ground and we see them work it etc
Good too hear about pride in how people farm

As I was reminded tonight by a farmer from Anglesey, there's a sign in the pub that says
Never be too busy making a living you forget to make a life.............. Least I think that's what it says, one G&T too many to be sure.(y)
