Are my clippers working properly

Hi I bought the Ergo Pro clippers last year for shaving backs and tails. The first day out I clipped 40 backs and tails. All went well.
I oiled it and on Monday I clipped 40 tails. It was oiled up but the quality of the cut was terrible, it looks like I did it by hand.
It took 3 hours to do 40 tails.

Am I doing something wrong, should I change the bale more regularly, or sharpen the blade?

Sounds like the blade is blunt.

Thats what i am thinking, can they be sharpened

Yes they can be sharpened. You can send them off if there is no one local.
