Are pigeons eating ferric phosphate.

Is it actually harmful ?

I take an iron tablet daily !

It is the dose that is significant, non target species are unlikely to be harmed when pellets used as per approval.

If you overdose on iron tablets you will be ill - the hospital will treat you with EDTA to lock up the free iron.

It is not the iron which is harmful to non target species, it is the chellation. There is actually quite a bit of work been done on iron phosphite pellets which shows they are certainly as dangerous for dogs as metaldehyde. I have seen no work on pigeons or any bird species.

Simples , change the pellets to the same colour as the garden ones, white
Why are garden pellets white?

Because gardeners know slug pellets are best applied as mulch around flowers and with white pellets you can more easily see if the darker soil is fully covered :(
