Are Red back boots worth the money?

clean them up a bit and fill the hole with some CT - 1, did that to my last pair, gave them another 4 months.
I hope that works and lasts another year, because I've ordered similar gunk from Screwfix along with ten fluorescent tubes, starters and an LCD work light on a stand. That's what comes of shopping on-line. So the £100 that I could have spent on replacement boots has gone on that stuff. Oh well, at least I can claim the VAT back on it.

Bluntstone elastic sided are absolute cŕàp. Last 4 pairs have had the sole rot out from the bottom. Dont know why? They just do.
Went to Yakka lace/zip and velcro. They lasted well. Good couple of years and still used as spare spares. Current pair is dewalts. Seem ok so far. Only thing that I find displessurable is they dont have a tab at the back to help get your heel in.

As I said earlier, I gave up wearing elastic sided boots many years ago, my favourite boots are Oliver AT zip / lace and I am VERY impressed with the zip / lace Mongrels we get supplied with at Council, but I will say these Blundstone zip boots seem to be lasting pretty well.
Although, they are only a “weekend” boot now as I wear the Mongrels all week with Council. ( the ONLY problem with the Counci Mongrels, & why I don’t wear them 24 / 7, is they are black. I will buy myself a pair of tan Mongrels for personal use once these Blunnies fail )

Probably wrongly but I wear trainers a lot unless actually doing maintinence/heavy lifting type work where steel toe caps are important.
Otherwise it’s essentially walking about with two bricks strapped onto your feet!

😮
What sort of boots do you buy that feel that heavy ?

i pretty much live in safety work boots, zip / lace style Oliver’s / Mongrels / Blundstones for the last 20 years & elastic sided Blunnies or Red Wing doggers for years before that. Have to say, I’ve never noticed them being heavy on my feet, even with 20 km bush walking / hiking . . . 😮

I will say, I HATE trainers & will ONLY wear them while actually “training” - going to the gym or jogging . . .
would never wear them for work or even casually

I will also say, that modern “work” boots are a world away from the old hob nail or ex army boots of years ago.
With the size & importance of our construction & mining industries & with such a large focus on OH & S & reducing work place injuries, a HUGE amount of design & research goes into modern safety boots to make them comfortable to be worn all day, every day. They are comfortable, safe & light. It’s a far cry from just “anything will do”. And that’s why you are better off buying quality, designed for task boots . . .

Thing I do like about elastic sided is ease of getting them on and they are cooler in summer than the ankle high boots. They all seem to have a fair amount of material in the sides which keeps them hot. And hot feet and the rest of you heats up too.

Yeah, never really had a problem with hot feet, tbh, it’s not something that’s ever bothered me ( & I have been in some pretty hot working environments for extended times 🤣 )

I bought a pair of Redback dealer boots after reading so many good reviews on here from a few years back. Mine are not worth the money, one fits like a glove, the other like a boat, the elasticated sides are different widths on each boot. Have tried to raise the issue with the Redback rep, but 10 days no reply
Update, Redback sent me a new pair, they fit much better, very comfy, will see how long they last
