All that is needed for a satisfactory employee employer relationship is respect respect respect! These gob shites who think they have the right to talk down to a person just because they are paying them need to wise up. Not many people want to work in agriculture these days, plenty of service industry jobs that pay as well with better conditions and fewer hours. If you have a good chap/ chap es working for you go tell them you love them [emoji8], no, maybe not...[emoji38]. But keep hold of em .

The best boss I had said to me on my first day " remember you don't work for us you work with us"
My best ever boss built my skills and confidence from day one, left me to do things my way as much as possible, always explained why if he needed me to change things and once put his own career in jeopardy to support me against unfair charges of inappropriate behavior from his superiors. On the odd occasion he did boll0ck me it was thoroughly deserved and I accepted and learnt from it. I'd have followed him into hell if he'd needed me to.

Its a brave person to stand up in what you believe is right than to capitulate to conformity and the status quo. (y)

The British disease, managers who are not fit to manage. :(

Most are ok, some are excellent but many are awful (and I've worked for some).

Being forced to manage staff when it's not what you want to do / are no good at is stressful and depressing.

If you have to micro-manage your staff then something is wrong, very wrong. Look hard at yourself first before you blame them. Do they always understand what you are asking of them? (Often your fault if not).

Its not just a British disease :banghead:

I was at Yams last week with a mate and we got chatting to a local farmer . He was moaning to us about struggling to find staff,he can't keep employees usually because of his temper and his lack of respect to his staff
After about 5 minutes of him slagging all his past employees, We left him and wondered if maybe he had been employed himself maybe his attitude would be different
Why is it that poor employers don't see that maybe its their management/ personal skills are lacking ?
Pressure, farming is industry with huge pressures on time, money and weather.

Aye, I can vouch for the fact that farming can sometimes put some fair pressure to weigh on your shoulders, but that's no excuse to take it out on those who work for you. I'm only a relatively small farmer with one part time worker but I find that by talking to them about the problems/work issues that I/the farm face I then have another pair of hands helping me work through it.
