Hope not. If you want to start up a holiday business there should not be grants to do so.
its all ok ether way really but its worth an ask! I have a bit of land that is no use to farm and would be perfect for a bit of a holiday thing! only trying to make the most out of my small farm really! thanks..

All for diversification but off your own back.

So many threads in off topic about 'Those on the dole' etc etc bleeding the system dry. Is there a difference?
never been on the dole in my life nor did I ever get any hand-out! so for the first time in life I was looking to see if there was any help! as I guess that's what most other people would do! otherwise I will do as I have any other time and sort it my self! I am not in any way a slacker thanks! but if there is eu money going then I will take it! do you give your sfp away??

Yeah I donate it to the local mart when I sell my sucklers....

Sorry chap, I wasn't having a go at you in particular. Its just the 'Farmer syndrome' of we are so hard one by, we work so hard everyone else is work shy. Now where are the handouts as I need to expand my farm which is worth £1million+

I looked into grants for glamping but couldn't find anything,it seems some have been available in the past, and might be in the future...I think it's a case of right place right time to get anything.
Sorry I cant be more help!

I don't see why farmers shouldn't get capital grants. Other businesses do. Usually the requirements are something like providing employment (a cleaner?) or generating tourism etc. Don't forget your holiday might visit the village pub, buy another farmers eggs, use the farm shop etc. etc. It all stimulates the local economy and adds employment.

Pretty much everything is subsidised these days. It's the way governments shape the local economies.

I think there are grants under the new schemes for diversification etc, not sure but i think they start opening for interest in the summer and it seems different areas will be up and running before others> I got some money in the past to do up a derelict barn and turn it into a bunkhouse, think they paid 40% then, think the new schemes will be similar.

That is so true but is often so well hidden. Its very difficult to find anything that does not get subsidized in some way in this country

I tried to get them when I set up a glamping site on my farm about 5 years ago, was declined based on competitive reasons. Was a local Cornish grant iirc. Payback was just over a year for me though, so was very happy with returns. Much harder work than holiday cottages though.

Is the attraction of setting up a glamping type business not that it does not require a large amount of capital. You have the site, use your digger for some landscaping and some tents. Assuming you don't need planning there is no reason you could not be up and running this year.

Applying for a grant will slow this down considerably and you will be enticed into spending more money on the project, because you are getting a grant.

Bit harsh. Anyway you can probably get a grant if its a new business and is justifiable. As in you can't afford to do it without or it will really benefit the area. TBH they aren't that expensive to buy or build as its just a wooden hut. The cost comes from adding extra facilities like wash rooms and toilet blocks.

Our local leader grant thingy helped out with a glamping set up not far from here but be careful , she has a few mid afternoon call girls turn up as it is more private for the married men than the local hotel and more worrying it seems a lot of "up hill gardeners" also book in:stop:

Get grants/funding off the government! Your kidding aren't you! me and my brother run a 200 static caravan site and looking to get some pods as well, what do we get off the government? Absolutely nothing, and to be fair why should we?
