Anyone who triggers human spam filter automatically loses messaging rights - to stop the viagra sellers and porn sites bothering members. Only other way to loose messaging is to be on pre-mod.

I don't seem to be able to post in or start conversations. Is this a general problem?

Has the edit button gone awol as well?

Edit: no it just disappears after an amount of time :D
I think it's disappearing as soon as someone quotes a post too.
I went back to correct my spelling on one earlier, and it wouldn't let me, within minutes of posting. I'd been quoted in the meantime though.

:scratchhead:Have I triggered a spam filter???
Or am I on pre-mod?
I've certainly not had any messages about it

Must have. You aren't on pre-mod. We don't send messages for spam triggering - as the system does it all automatically.

GIve me a call if you want to speak about it and I'll look into it.

How the heck can I have triggered a "spam filter"? I've been busy trying to farm and have hardly posted in the last few weeks Also I have nothing to sell and have hardly been in WTF thread recently :D

Not a stupid question at all

There are lists of keywords like viagra etc Chinese characters or Indian words that are only really used by spammers, also IP country of origin links out to other potential dodgy sites or trying to send the same message to multiple recipients over and over etc would all get caught in the spam filters

It used to be set up badly meaning a lot of manual intervention was required on occasion but it’s much more automated now so as filters get triggered warning points amass which kick in various restrictions as thresholds are reached and ultimately put the offender into pre mod stopping them spamming TFF members

Occasionally an innocent genuine member gets caught in the filters but that’s fairly rare if people are behaving

Mods get a notification when filters are triggered and if there is an innocent reason when they contact the member they can remove the points. Much better than members being vulnerable to an inbox full of spam every time they login

Posting the contents if a private message on the open forum would trigger warning points for example

Private messages are private
