Are we heading for another dry spring?

It rained here last week and we just finished drilling on Friday so I'm not classing it as too dry yet.

Nothing can be done about it apart from adjusting management to suit, so unless there's a plan to let dry spring weather determine the farms management policies going forward there's no point in focusing on it too much.

We have changed ours as the crazy wet winters then going dry for a few months like last year certainly makes spring cropping a pia without changes

UK overall better in the dry.
No real rain since it stopped in Feb.
This is recompense for the shocker of a winter. Long may it continue. I'd be happy with 400mm anual rainfall rather than our 550mm.

You're having a laugh aren't you? We had 30mm of rain here around a week into March, just after some had sown some fertilizer. Then we had just under 30mm over last weekend. Most fields around here are still too wet to work, but time is getting on so some people with large acreage are trying to get a bit done. I made a few ruts when putting fertiliser on in third week of March, and most muck has been spread in the few days before a band of rain comes, when the fields have been almost dry enough for the job. How on earth are you short of water after such a wet February?

Certainly not too dry here yet, just saying its drying up fast, with a dry March, and no rain forecast yet in April, but turning very cold. Last year we were short of grass in spring/ early summer due to it drying out before it warmed up, and this year is heading the same way.

Beauty of the uk isn’t it. Getting close to 3-4 weeks since it last rained. Not that it’s an issue here but you could take a tank a cross any of our clays at the moment and not leave a mark. Dry and a blowing wind for most of that time.

Also rain in Feb is no use it’s just how quick can we get into the drains and off the fields

Tanks are on tracks for low compaction/traction just like tracked tractors are on tracks 😂👍🏻

Yeah but when it’s wet out digger in steels leaves good marks. Took a grain trailer loaded across a field the other day and couldn’t see where that had been.
