Are you all depressed ?

But does this just promote a victim culture in the industry - If you step back and read a lot of threads here and posts on Twitter farmers always seem to cast themselves as the victim?

It may well be true that we often are but is it a case of becoming what you feel you are and would a more positive approach help change our outcomes ?
what like an estate agent does,? give out a load of ......
Well thats not for me , i would rather talk straight and be honest about things.

To be fair we are all in very different situations so it’s hard to judge isn’t it.

True but I think the negative attitude is reflected in the way we are represented and perceived outside farming by consumers and policy makers ? - this creates a vicious circle resulting in a spiral of decline of an entire industry ?

Can you qualify this attitude thing - like what counts as a negative attitude and what about ? I am a tenant who is largely shafted by lots of institutional things about uk ag and land ownership, I can be negative about this and if consumers or policy makers would listen I would happily tell them my issues in an articulate way. Instead most of them just either ignore me, or treat me like I’m evil 😂

honesty (even with ourselves) is often limited to all the bad stuff - the good stuff often forgotten like the environment we are lucky enough to live and work in, the house that often comes with the business, being our own boss maybe or working when you choose to no clocking into a factory, etc, no commute on a stuffy train, all that wealth in land owned or often inherited etc .................... stuff that millions can't even begin to dream of ever having

I'm not suggesting no farmer never has reason to get depressed but the majority of us should surely be some of the happiest people alive !

Is this right? There’s a lot of negativity on this forum but I don’t find that is reflected in farmers attitudes generally. Your over generalising surely?

You'd be a lot less stressed if you gave up that antique plough and bought a drill
Bit of ploughing helps me chill Derek, its dealing with people is the windup, all everyone seems to want is money these days, and they don't mind what crap they talk to get it.

apart from that I love my farming, in general, and the plan wont be to be doing anything else any days
soon.
Perhaps i should get a bicycle :cautious::D

Every day a challenge. When you stop enjoying the challenge it's time to get out. Some go on too long and challenge becomes a struggle.
Best job in the world. 🙂

I am generalizing yes but it's not just TFF - I find Twitter MUCH worse re negativity/victim culture to a point where I really do feel like deleting my account on there

Thats a different matter,
...I do indeed appreciate, the place/ farm countryside i live on , very, very, much so, its beautiful this time of year, from the highest field its possible look around 360 and its full of a patchwork of rolling hills and coombes fields hedgrows, trees crops cattle and sheep ,an intricate managed mix.

Trouble is there's too many that don't realise why and how it looks like that.

That’s the answer. Delete your account! I recently watched a football match with some people who were also following it on Twitter, utterly bizarre experience!! Social media just isn’t a reflection of real life. One of the real problems with TFF is that you cannot delete your account.
