Are you BAME, LBGT, a new entrant from the city, a young farmer or just a bit odd?

cant bame/lbgt just slot in with what's already available?

why do people feel the need to be part of a something diff...…. fuk it, I'm not getting started

I can't speak for the rest of the country, but round our neck of the woods here ,"everyone would be perfectly welcome to come and have a go, and , you know what, nobody would give a flying fuk.

Gay , straight, black, white, everyone's welcome, everyone's made welcome if they want to meet the locals, and we don't need a steering committee to lecture us on how to cater for different religions colours and sexualities. We just get on with it.

It's called good manners.

Just get on with it.

Well I for one reckon the op posts these things from time to time to see what those of the farming community have to say and perhaps even to trip people up, and who knows where the responses on this forum may be quoted in future. Would be very easy for someone with a malicious agenda to turn 'i don't see any need for people to have to define themselves as different' type posts get turned around into 'all farmers hate gays'.

Also I'm sure I was reading a thread the other day complaining about how certain posters started a thread and then never replied again, we're now on page 5...

I've spoken to the chap outside of TFF and he has a genuine motivation for the project, he's not trying to trip people up.

He's really trying to open up the community by providing a gateway, at the moment agriculture is very conservative, very white and very aged.

By creating a space for people who don't fit, and making it more inviting, he's hoping he can offer some people who wouldn't look twice at agriculture to perhaps consider it as a career/lifestyle.

Agricultural folk generally aren't the best at that, so schemes run by people like Mike are no bad thing.

All this segregated mindset is doing is drive a deeper wedge between us all, hence why I do not follow it or even believe in it. It is also fuelling the pocket culture society that we are supposed to be removing from this country - but yet, here we are again, seeing headers placed upon people / groups. I just don't get the need?

I personally treat everyone the same, if they are respectful towards me, then I reciprocate it. If they are not, then they are mostly ignored, but sometimes it takes a conversation to remove the annoyance.

To say farmers are a certain way - personally I think that is a normal defense simly because one cannot fit in or more to the point, accept that they are different to the City Dwellers. As noted earlier - I am not from a farming background - and I can honestly say that the majority of people I have dealt with have openly welcomed me, and for the record, it isnt because I am white - as none of them would know what colour, sex, notion I am?

Do we have enough Lesbian Bricklayers in the country?

I think there is a reason there aren't so many BAME people in agriculture and its probably because culturally farming has been very much a peasant affair with a lack of education and opportunity in such countries.

LGBT don't think is a particular problem in agriculture but I suppose the nature of everyone knowing everyone may mean people in such a situation would want to live in a city where they are more anonymous at least to start with. I'd actually have a lot of sympathy with people who couldn't feel they can be themselves.
Would all the red blooded males RBM's in the country complain about builder's bum with Lesbian Bricklayers LB's ? :)
